Three Small Musicians, Seven and a Half Inches Tall

A tabletop trio — not a wall piece

A dholak player, a singer with hand raised, and a stringed-instrument player, each on its own turned wooden disc. Slim brass-toned wire limbs, a hand-painted enamelled tunic, and a brass ball head with a fan of jewellery at the collar.

They stand on a surface. There is no hook, no keyhole and no wall fixing — these are made for a console, a desk, a bookshelf ledge or a mantel, where their small scale reads as deliberate rather than lost.

Small Objects, Chosen Deliberately

Large showpieces announce themselves. Small ones are chosen — and a set of three at 7.5 inches is the size that fills the awkward gaps a big piece cannot: beside a stack of books, along the back of a desk, on the narrow ledge of an open shelving unit, either side of a mirror.

Because there are three, they can be grouped tightly as a band or spread along a run as punctuation. Both look intentional.

Dust with a soft dry brush; a cloth will catch on the raised jewellery at the collar. No water, no polish, no cleaning spray. The enamel is the finish.

Indoor use only. These are not sealed for a balcony or a windowsill that takes rain, and prolonged direct sun will eventually flatten the brightest of the enamels.
